The four houses and one disused former general store that comprise the town of Towitta sit on the edge of the Eastern Plains. Only one and a half hour’s drive north-east of Adelaide, just over the Mount Lofty Range, it is an isolated place. The plains are cold and windswept in winter, hot and dusty in summer. Nowhere is this felt more than in the cemetery located just north of the town. Inside the wire fence each grave feels as isolated as the place itself.
