Unley is a relatively small but diverse suburb located just south of central Adelaide. At the suburb’s centre is an imposing town hall. The northern boundary is lined with office blocks overlooking a major road, the parklands and Adelaide’s CBD. The suburb is bisected by the major Unley Road, with its restaurants, service and retail shops and a major shopping centre. Beyond these major roads lie the residential areas with many early Victorian houses. Over the years some have been demolished and replaced by more modern structures although the tendency today is to modernise the early houses with large extensions.
I decided to give a ‘behind the scenes’ portrayal of this diversity.
