We recently spent a couple of days in the Barossa Valley. As you move through this region two things stand out; the vineyards and the built heritage of the early German settlers. In small settlements like Bethany and Light Pass the text of the cemetery headstones is generally in German while the remains of early slab huts and wattle and daub cottages are easy to find.
