I love the winter sun. Mind you I like the summer sun as well but it can be a bit overwhelming. While the summer sun is often something to be avoided, the winter sun is always embraced.
Sunny winter days demand long walks. Even at midday the sun is low in the north and the shadows relatively long. The sun adds a gentle warm hue to the stone buildings.
Inside the house the oppressive sun is no longer shuttered out. It is welcomed in. Instead of flooding the room with a harsh light, the winter sun seems to find individual objects and caress them with its rays.
